This worksaround my git commit check: trailing whitespace.

The docbook stylesheet probably was wrong to do this.

No review. This was very minor.

minor punctuation and grammar improvements

reword "incompatible" to "mutually exclusive" for some options.

While there I noticed a bug in the manpage: it said --upgrade was
incompatible with --upgrade. I fixed that.

fix a typo.

I didn't get this reviewed, but is mostly minor, simple fixes.

update date (new features anyways since the old date)
update copyright years
minor rewording
add some docbook tags (but not all noticable in rendered manpage).

A long multi-sentence parenthetical remark may be strange
embedded in a single sentence.
