Feature Request: Backport the status-get command to Kea current-stable branch (1.6.x)

On one of our support tickets a customer who would like to use Stork noted that he could not use it to determine the status of a server running Kea 1.6.x

On that ticket, Michal Nowikowski commented:

It looks that the customer is using stable version of kea i.e. 1.6.2. It does not provide status-get command which we are using in stork. So for now it is not possible to use stork with kea older than more less 1.7.5.

Is it just that we're between release versions of the 1.6 branch and this will be in the next release (1.6.3)? Or was it decided not to add it because 1.6.x is considered feature-stable?

If the latter, I'd like to recommend that the decision be reconsidered and that status-get be added to 1.6.x to benefit Stork users.
