This is the work planned for the 2.7 cycle starting in 2024 and eventually leading to stable 3.0 release.

Features to be covered:

• deprecate CA
• revamp client classification
• modernize build system
• mysql, pgsql to hooks
• restructure tiers for paid hook (make it simpler) (to be confirmed by Vicky and sales)
• revamp interface detection, move to epoll (detect new interfaces, handle disappearing interfaces)
• reservations lookup (early, global) - make it simpler or come with better defaults)
• terminology update (doc, code, error msg etc. should use consistent terminology - backend vs database, hosts vs reservations vs host reservations)
• document/make more consistent log level messages

Features under consideration:

• subnet selection speed-up (using Patricia tree)
